The Battle of Scarif was also lackluster in comparison to the other DLC that had hit Battlefront 2 over the preceding years. While the map was much bigger than the one in Battlefront, allowing for more flanking maneuvers for players and sporadic fighting that seemingly mirrored the scene in the movie, there was no unique Infiltration mode and no space phase whatsoever. The final addition to the 2015 Star Wars Battlefront, the game’s Rogue One DLC brought with it a new mode, called Infiltration. One of Battlefront‘s most immersive and nuanced game modes, Infiltration essentially allowed players to play the climactic battle at the end of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, starting with the space battle over Scarif and concluding with the Rebels attempting to smuggle the Death Star plans off-world. It offered a multi-layered experience and added new wrinkles to land and space gameplay.ĭisappointingly, Star Wars Battlefront 2‘s Rogue One Scarif level was nowhere near as substantial. The Battle of Scarif was one of the last updates for Star Wars Battlefront 2, bringing a disappointing end to a game that had mounted an impressive comeback since launch. In comparison, the Rogue One DLC for Battlefront included two new heroes – Jyn Erso and Director Krennic – and a host of new add-ons, from a new star card to new vehicles and weapons. Instead, Battlefront 2 added cosmetics for heroes and various quality of life updates and fixes to the UI.

Not only did Battlefront 2 scale back on the popular Supremacy game mode with Scarif, but none of the content from Battlefront carried over either.

The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story DLC for Star Wars Battlefront 2 was a big step back from the same movie tie-in DLC introduced in Battlefront (2015).
